Drywood termites live within infested wood and require a different assessment from soil-associated subterranean termites. Do not identify them from a pellet, hole or online photograph alone. Share the visible evidence, whether it affects furniture or building timber, and any history of brought-in wood or previous treatment.
Drywood termites are more associated with southern Alabama than the Birmingham inland market. This page supports identification and specialist enquiries; it does not imply that every Birmingham home or neighborhood has a drywood problem. The inspector should determine the insect and whether the affected material is an isolated item or part of a larger concealed infestation.
A perimeter bait system intended for subterranean termites does not automatically resolve a drywood infestation. Localized wood treatment and other specialist options have different scopes and limits. Confirm which service is actually available, what preparation is needed and how hidden or inaccessible wood is handled. Whole-structure fumigation is not promised by this website.
